MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association
Turabian/Chicago Manual of Style
All manuals are shelved at the Library's Circulation Desk.
Common Citation Styles Used at The College of St. Scholastica
APA (6th edition) - American Psychological Association - used for the social sciences including education, social work, psychology, and the health sciences including nursing.
MLA (7th edition) - Modern Language Association - used for the humanities including English.
AMA (revised edition) - American Medical Association - used for the health sciences primarily in the Athletic Training department.
If you are unsure which style to use, ask your professor.
The Library currently has guides for APA (5th edition) and MLA (6th edition). However, unless you have a valid reason, you should be using the most current editions listed above.
